About Us

Meet the Pastors

Ben and Shelly Comer have been married for 26 years and have four amazing children.

Shelly is originally from New Orleans, LA and grew up in Saint Tammany Parish. She has always loved to sing and has led worship since she was a teenager. One of Shelly’s greatest joys is to throw a good party to connect with people, and that is the heart behind every Sunday at Capital City Church.

Ben is originally from Morgan City, LA and after high school, he attended Baylor University. He is an avid runner and desires to play golf more regularly in the years to come. For the last 20 years, Ben has coached all four of his children in basketball, baseball, and soccer. Also the consummate coach at Capital City Church, he loves to guide families in how to grow in their relationships with one another and with Christ.

Ben and Shelly served as Associate Pastors at four other church plants before God called them to plant Capital City Church. After 23 years of serving in New Orleans, they were thrilled to follow God's lead to Baton Rouge, where Capital City Church officially opened its doors on September 26, 2021. Since then, Ben and Shelly have worked diligently to collaborate with local churches and ministries and are blessed to bring reinforcements to the churches already serving the hurting and broken in Baton Rouge.

At Capital City Church we are a place where all people are welcomed, no matter their background – no perfect people allowed. We believe diversity of culture, socio-economic position, and age brings a true picture of the Body of Christ. Capital City Church desires to be reflective of that picture, with our mission of reaching imperfect people to follow a perfect Jesus.

Capital City Church desires to provide an engaging atmosphere both online and in person for every man, woman, and child in Baton Rouge. We are committed to developing active Christ-followers through life-changing encounters designed for individuals and families. We will build a life-giving community through Sunday Services, Small Groups and Serve Teams.
